I-9 Compliance
The Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA) requires U.S. employers to verify the employment eligibility status of new employees and makes it unlawful employ unauthorized workers. Every new employee working in the U.S. hired after November 6, 1986 must complete Form I-9. To avoid fees and punishment, employers must maintain proper records of its employees’ completed I-9 forms. While this compliance is required for every U.S. employer, it is especially important for employers of foreign workers.
