When entering the United States in a non-immigrant status, Canadians are issued an I-94 record showing the date of admission, the class of admission, and the duration of the permitted stay. For those entering the U.S. through an airport, you will typically be issued an electronic I-94 rather than the CBP officer stamping your passport. Your electronic I-94 record can be found by going to this site and entering your passport information. For those entering the U.S. via a land border, you may either be issued a paper I-94 stapled into your passport, a rubber stamp placed in your passport, or you may not be issued an I-94 at all. In the latter case, it may seem as if you entered the U.S. unlawfully. However, CBP keeps a record of all entries and exits. If you find yourself requiring proof of entering or exiting the United States, you can do a FOIA request.
